MY ROLE

As one of the first non-engineering hires at OxeFit- I was a key member in setting up the foundation for design and customer experience at the company. Within 6 months I recruited and hired a team of multidisciplinary product designers all while being active in strategic planning for the business.

I had the privilege of managing the award winning design agency Resn for their work on our commerce site, as well as manage all communications between our team and our branding, marketing, and PR Firms. Juggling so many hats allowed me to keep a hand in several parts of the business and maintain brand standards for consistency across all products.

SUMMARY

Because we were building a physical product it was important for our team to understand customer experiences as a whole and not limited to just the screens they would interact with. We designed a smooth, intuitive suite of products including interfaces for athletes on the device, mobile app for coaches, and web apps for healthcare professionals. I got to work closely with the engineers and industrial designers who were building the machine- so close in fact I am an inventor on a patent for a piece of the product. (US Patent #12,048,860)

In the earlier stages of the start up I was more hands on with the full life cycle of the design phase. First, I spent time establishing a process for how UX was to be integrated within the company and how it would fit into the development pipeline. Before hiring a PM, it was up to me to work closely with the development team to define a roadmap based on a rough cost/value analysis. I began with sketching, wireframes and eventually some prototypes we were able to test with to provide quick feedback. As the UX team grew we established a weekly cadence for usability tests conducted by our internal team to get iterative feedback on our progress.
